What are dentures?
Dentures are removable replacement teeth. A full denture replaces all the teeth on the upper or lower jaw, and a partial denture fills the gaps when some natural teeth remain.
Modern dentures are made to match the colour and shape of your teeth and to sit comfortably on your gums. We take time over the fit, because that is what makes them comfortable for eating and speaking.
Dentures may suit you if
- You are missing several or all of your teeth.
- You would like a non-surgical way to restore your smile and chewing.
- You want a solution that can be adjusted as your mouth changes.
- You are considering implants later and want an option to start with.
What to expect, step by step
Consultation
We examine your mouth and talk through full, partial and implant-supported options.
Impressions
Impressions or scans are taken so the denture is made for your gums.
Try-in
You try the denture, and we adjust the shape, shade and bite before it is finished.
Fitting and review
The finished denture is fitted, and we see you again to fine-tune the fit.
Getting used to dentures
Adjustment period
Eating and speaking can feel different at first. Most people settle with practice and small adjustments.
Made more secure with implants
A denture can be anchored on implants for extra stability. We can explain how that works.
Appointments are at KBM Dental in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14. Patients also visit from Churchtown, Milltown, Clonskeagh and the wider South Dublin area. Treatment starts with a consultation, so the plan and the cost are clear before you decide.
